The Democracy Council (DC) works closely with civil society organizations (CSOs) pushing for human rights and democracy in some of the most repressive environments in the world. DC maintains a proven track record of working with both local and national government offices and civil society organizations to build local capacity. We offer hands-on training in effective practices for communications, security, messaging, and organizational development. Local activists set their agendas and we provide them with the necessary tools to help achieve them.
In transitioning states, DC works by means of civic engagement and education, public testimony and partnerships with CSOs to that respect for rights and the promotion of public participation in an accountable and productive manner are priorities.
